Weekend Warrior – Is Your Ambition Destroying Your Life?
Weekend Warrior – Is Your Ambition Destroying Your Life?
Something has been on my mind lately and that’s the concept of the Weekend Warrior.
We are all faced with some very interesting times, myself included and it’s taken some serious effort to really look at what needs to get done to attain the goals I have set, not only out of desire but out of necessity.
For a long time I would try to squeeze every ounce of their spare time, especially weekends, into chasing dreams. If you think about it the Broadway show schedule is 6 days a week, one day off a week, 365 days a year and we even work on Holidays. That’s a schedule specific to that industry but is it really necessary to work on weekends to reach your goal? Let's dive into this.
First off, I want to acknowledge that we all have our unique challenges. Maybe you're juggling a 9 to 5 job, or you feel like you lack the skills to make your dream happen. Or perhaps fear is holding you back, or you just don't know where to start. I get it. The road to success is rarely a straight line.
Let's look at some real-life examples. Take Elon Musk, for instance. This guy is known for his intense work ethic, often clocking in more than 80 hours a week. But here's the kicker – it's not just about the hours; it's about the passion and the drive. Then there's J.K. Rowling, who went from being a single mother living on welfare to the creator of the Harry Potter empire, all while finding time to write in cafes.
So, what can we learn from these high achievers? It's not just about working weekends; it's about finding that inner fire, that relentless determination to pursue your goals, no matter what.
But it's also about balance. Working non-stop without giving yourself a break can lead to burnout. It's crucial to find that sweet spot between pushing forward and taking care of yourself.
Now, you might be wondering, "How do I start?" Here are a few tips:
- Set Clear Goals:
- Write down your ultimate goal.
- Break it down into smaller, achievable milestones.
- Set deadlines for each milestone.
- Manage Your Time:
- Dedicate specific hours on weekends for work on your goals.
- Use a planner or app to schedule your tasks.
- Ensure you also schedule time for relaxation and family.
- Build the Necessary Skills:
- Identify the skills you need to reach your goal.
- Find online courses, workshops, or books to help you learn.
- Practice these skills regularly, even if it's just for a short time each weekend.
- Confront Your Fears:
- Identify what scares you about taking the next step.
- Write down the worst-case scenarios and how you'd handle them.
- Take one small step to face your fear, then build on that.
- Find Your Support System:
- Reach out to friends, family, or online communities who share your goals. To start you can join mine: https://www.facebook.com/groups/starpowernow

- Share your progress and celebrate small victories with your support network.
In the end, being a Weekend Warrior is about more than just working on weekends. It's about harnessing your passion, dedication, and resilience to turn your dreams into reality. So, whether you're carving out time after your 9 to 5 job, learning new skills, or taking that first brave step, remember that every effort counts
